This year, at the 40th anniversary of the American Music Awards, electronic dance music had its own category for the very first time. This comes at a time when dance music is infectiously growing from the underground and making its way into the mainstream. The nominees for the brand new AMA category for dance music included dubstep master Skrillex, Calvin Harris, and the big winner of the night: David Guetta.
Guetta was extremely excited to win the award for the first time saying, "I am so happy, I am so honored...It's wonderful to see that electronic music is finally recognized at that level in the U.S."
