Three San Antonio Chefs Up for Prestigious James Beard Award

You may have heard of the James Beard Awards.  You know they're important but did you know...

Known as the Oscars of the food world, the James Beard Awards cover all aspects of the industry: chefs and restaurateurs, cookbook authors and food journalists, restaurant designers and architects, and more. The James Beard Awards are the highest honor for food and beverage professionals in America.

Well, THREE San Antonio chefs have made it to the semifinals.  That is quite an honor.  Chefs Rico Torres and Diego Galicia of Mixtli and Steve McHugh of Cured are in the Best Chef: Southwest category.  This is Chef Steve's THIRD nomination.

A list of final nominees will be shared March 14. The James Beard Awards will take place May 7 in Chicago.
