Look To Waffle House To Let You Know How Bad The Storms Are

When I first read the headlines about FEMA using Waffle House to keep track of Hurricane Florence, I thought it might be a joke.

It's NOT!

Waffle House has a storm center!  That's because they are open 24 hours a day and often remain open during natural disasters, providing food and resources to first responders.

Pretty cool, huh?

FEMA monitors a "Waffle House Index," a color-coded indicator of what restaurants are open, closed or offering a limited menu, to gauge how well an area will recover from a hurricane, tornado or other hazard.

Now...if only San Antonio could get one or two!
