Cold War Kids are preparing to drop a new album this fall and are kicking off the new music with, not one, but TWO new songs, "Complainer" and "4th of July."
"Complainer" is co-written with Bonnie McKee and Electric Guest's Asa Taccone, and is an anthem that embodies one of Ghandi's most famous sayings: "Be the change you wish to see in the world." In the chorus, the band's lead vocalist Nathan Willett sings, "You say you want to change this world/ Well do you really believe in magic?/ But you can only change yourself/ Don't sit around and complain about it/ Now you're out on your own/ Don't know where you belong/ Don't sit around and complain about it."
Meanwhile, on more bluesy "4th of July," Willet sings carefree lyrics like "Seasons never change/ The sun it always shines swimming in palm springs/ Losing track of time its easy just to float/ To enjoy the ride don't be critical/ Only bring good vibes."
Expected to be released in the fall, Cold War Kids' yet-to-be-titled forthcoming new album is their 7th and follows the band's 2017 LP L.A. Divine. The new LP will include "Complainer" and "4th of July" and Electric Guest drummer Matthew Compton plays drums throughout the album.
