Vandals Hit Historic Black Cemetery In Austin

Police are investigating the vandalism of a historic black cemetery in Austin. Somebody defaced more than a dozen headstones with blue paint at Evergreen Cemetery, on the corner of 12th Street and Airport Boulevard. The graveyard was established in 1926, and holds the remains of about 12-thousand people, including a number of black community and civic leaders. The graffiti on the headstones seems to be devoid of racial or political content, so investigators don't know what to make of it.
