Deputy Shoots Suspect To End Chase After Being Hit By Car

A Bexar County deputy shot a man following a chase yesterday after Sheriff Javier Salazar said the deputy's life was in imminent danger. Officials say it started when a China Grove police officer tried to pull the man over for a traffic stop, which turned into a chase with deputies that went into Wilson County. When the man returned to Bexar County, the deputies used spike strips to destroy at least one of his tires. Salazar said the man then started speeding towards a deputy, who fired several shots and hit the man at least once. The sheriff said the deputy was hit by the vehicle, but suffered non-life threatening injuries. The suspect is in critical condition.
