New Housing That Receives City Incentives Must Accept Housing Vouchers

New housing developments in San Antonio that receive city incentives are now required to accept housing vouchers from their renters. City Council passed a new ordinance unanimously on Thursday that says landlords who receive incentives such as tax abatements or fee waivers will now have to accept tenants who use Section 8 housing vouchers or other federal housing assistance. The ordinance would apply only to new construction or renovation projects, and only those receiving city incentives. Landlords violating the law would have to repay the city for the incentives, and wouldn't receive any more.
