Following a year's hiatus due to the pandemic, San Antonio's 9th annual Día de los Muertos returns to the Hemisfair this weekend. Organizers say 60 altars commemorating loved ones will be constructed along E. Nueva Street. More than 40 musicians and performers are also scheduled to participate. They say Muertos Fest is the largest Day of the Dead celebration in Texas and is recognized nationally as one of the largest fall festivals in the nation. About 100,000 people are expected to attend this year's festivities.
