Know The Signs of Heat Exhaustion and Heat Stroke

I passed out once because I was so hot. Crazy! And a little scary. With it just going to get hotter, you need to know what symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke look like because it is an emergency health condition.

  • Cool, moist skin with goose bumps when in the heat
  • Heavy sweating
  • Faintness
  • Dizziness
  • Fatigue
  • Weak, rapid pulse
  • Low blood pressure upon standing
  • Muscle cramps
  • Nausea
  • Headache

Other symptoms could include:

  • High body temperature. A core body temperature of 104 F (40 C) or higher, obtained with a rectal thermometer, is the main sign of heatstroke
  • Altered mental state or behavior
  • Not sweating when you should
  • Flushed skin
  • Rapid breathing

If you show signs of heat stroke, you should immediately move to a shady spot or inside and call 9-1-1.
