Swedish "Death Cleaning" Can Really Help You Declutter

My mom has a 5,000 square foot house FILLED with stuff! Plus, she has a three car garage FILLED with stuff. And two storage places FILLED with stuff. The point of Swedish death cleaning, and I know it sounds morbid, is more about decluttering as well as making life easier for you and those you love.

Do I want to deal with all that STUFF once my mom passes? Uh, no. And these days more and more adults are getting rid of the things they don't need or want to make their life easier, as well as their kids' and grandkids' lives easier.

So, what's involved with Swedish Death Cleaning?

1. Start with Simple Tasks - quick success can be motivational, so start with large and impersonal things, like furniture, and finishing with small, nostalgic items like photographs and letters.

2. Recognize What to Discard

3. Ask for Help

4. Get Rid of Your Things – great ways are donating, selling and throwing away.

5. Save What Matters Most – not just for your kids or grandkids, but for you as well
