There are many ways to spend Memorial Day with your family.
- Pay tribute to those who served by visiting a nearby cemetery. Place flags and flowers on the graves and honor those who have fought for our country.
- Go biking. May is National Bike Month. Dress up your bikes with Memorial Day decorations like stars and streamers, then head out for a family ride. Add decorations to your helmets and wear red, white, and blue for a fun and patriotic ride around town.
- Take a tour of a National Park.
- Help build a home for a veteran.
- Shop at a veteran-owned business.
- Learn how to play a patriotic song. What do you play? The guitar, piano, flute?
- Watch the Memorial Day Concert. This year's concert is on PBS 8pm EST/7pm CST.
- Take a virtual tour of the White House.
- Craft your own Memorial Day poppy. Come Memorial Day, red poppies are worn as a sign of remembrance. In fact, the Friday before Memorial Day is considered National Poppy Day.
- Donate to related causes.
- Write letters to soldiers and their families.
- Put together care packages for soldiers.
- Create patriotic chalk art.
- Fly a flag.
- Take a moment of silence. No matter where you live, take a moment of silence at 3 p.m. local time for The National Moment of Remembrance.
- Watch a patriotic movie.
- Attend a Memorial Day parade.
- Post a heartfelt tribute on social media.
