David McCary, Director of the Solid Waste Management Department said, “As a result of the recent storms, our Department has collected over 21,000 cubic yards of brush, enough to cover a football field 13 feet deep.” The brush is being ground into nutrient rich mulch, which is now available for free to San Antonio residents.
The Solid Waste Management Department is offering free fine grade mulch to San Antonio residents through March 31, 2017. The free mulch is available at both the Bitters Brush Recycling Center located at 1800 Wurzbach Parkway and the Nelson Gardens Brush Recycling Center located at 8963 Nelson Rd. Both locations are open 8:00 am to 5:00 pm seven days a week. Remember to help keep our streets clean by using a tarp to cover your load.
