I don’t like being around negative people.  It should come as no surprise but they bring me down and make me start looking at things in that same negative way.  But you’re at work and you have to deal with these people every day.  What how can you fix it?

Asking about coping strategies will automatically put people in problem-solving mode.

“Is There Anything I Can Do?”

While you shouldn’t offer to step in unless you can actually follow through, most of the time, the venter won’t take you up on your offer.
