IKEA-Inspired Baby Names Are The New Thing

IKEA is VERY 'in' right now.  Everyone seems to have a piece of IKEA furniture in their home.  Some of my friends make a day of it and go shopping and eat the meatballs.  Soon we'll have our very own IKEA in Live Oak.

So it shouldn't come as any surprise that baby names are being inspired by IKEA.  Before you start thinking that you might be naming your baby-to-be after a couch, the names are all Swedish-inspired.  For example, outdoor furniture is named after Scandinavian islands. Rugs are named after towns in Denmark or Sweden.  Bed and bath accessories are named after flowers and plants. Shelves are named after occupations or boys' names, while fabrics and curtains are female names.

So here are the names that are making the rounds.

  • Tarva
  • Stefan
  • Ivar
  • Tobias
  • Stig   (I had a HUGE crush on a Stig when I was younger…pronounced Steeg)
  • Franklin
  • Ingo
  • Malm
  • Fredde
  • Sommar
  • Norna
  • Cilla
  • Malinda
  • Henrika
  • Johanne
  • Mata
  • Mydal

I thing some of them are really good names.  What about you?
