As a huge Harry Potter fan, this caught my eye. San Antonio is getting their own Major League Quidditch team!
If you're familiar with the Harry Potter books and/or films, you know this is the main sport that wizards play. Obviously they actually fly on brooms, but don't let that dissuade you. Muggle Quidditch is not for the faint of heart. It's very physical.
Just like the book there are chasers, beaters, a keeper, and a seeker. You have to stay on your broom. The balls are the same: the quaffle, the bludgers, and the snitch. The only difference is you don't fly, and someone is actually the snitch. In muggle Quidditch, one person wears a waist band with a small ball, such as a baseball, attached to the band. The ball is the snitch and the person who carries it must evade the other team's seekers.
The names and logos for the new teams will be announced in April. Try-outs for San Antonio's team (open to men and women) will be in April.
