(Lake Okeechobee, FL) -- A scary new invasive predator is taking hold of Florida waters.
The arapaima is a huge fish that can grow up to 10 feet long and weigh hundreds of pounds. A dead arapaima washed ashore in Cape Coral's Jaycee Park recently.
The fish is native to the Amazon River and it is one of the globe's largest predatory fish with scales said to be as impenetrable as armor.
Despite being seen in Florida, the state's Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says there is no evidence that the monster fish has reproduced in the wild here.
