Today our boss takes his son to college. That, of course, makes me think about my time as an undergraduate. I liked my dorm room. I mean, I made it my own with posters and my duvet, but not like they do these days. Dorm rooms these days look like boutique hotels! The picture (above) is my friend Kiersten's daughter's dorm this year. FANCY!
Before we get to that though, what does your child need for his/her dorm room? Obviously it depends on your child, but here are some suggestions:
For your bed:
A mattress topper, soft sheets, bed risers (some come with USB ports), comforter and shams, a bedside caddy
For your closet:
Hangers, a closet divider, a closet expander
For your room:
Laundry basket (or bag, or even backpack...yup, they make them for laundry now), an ottoman that can be used for seating and storage or a cube organizer with bins, lighted vanity mirror, a charging station, a bedside lamp (some come with chargers), string lights
For the bathroom:
A shower caddy, a robe, shower shoes
